Resolutions for You and Fido

Happy New Year! Do you have big plans for 2021? As we start a new year, many people take time to think about what they want to achieve in the next 12 months. Why not include your pup in your goals? A   Valley Center, KS vet lists some great resolutions for you and your canine pal below.

Get More Exercise

Fitness is often at the top of the list of many people’s resolutions. This is definitely something you and Fido can help each other with! Walk and play with your furry buddy every day. You can even take him swimming or hiking, as long as your vet doesn’t object.

Broaden Your Horizons

Dogs love to explore. To Fido, a new meadow, a trail, or even an unexplored patch of grass is a new world of mysteries just waiting to be discovered. Indulge your dog’s adventurous streak and take him to new places.

Play

Fido is absolutely adorable when he’s racing after a ball, tugging on a rope pull, or just playing in the spray from a hose. Doggy playtime shouldn’t only happen occasionally. Make it part of your daily schedule! Your canine buddy will really benefit from the exercise and stimulation. (We’re pretty sure this will put a smile on your face as well.)

Learn Something New

Training is very important for good manners and for safety! If your furry best friend hasn’t quite mastered doggy basics like Sit, Stay, Come, and Lay Down, take time to finish his petucation. Once Fido has these down, take time to show him some cute tricks. As for you, why not look into a new hobby, or enroll in an online class?

Snack Wisely

We suspect that Fido won’t have any problem going along with this one. Treats are actually beneficial for dogs. They’re great ways to brighten up your pup’s day, enforce good training, and, of course, get that tail wagging. Just stick to treats that are healthy for your canine friend, and don’t go overboard.

Relax

Adventures, playtime, and education all sound great, but you need to take some down time too. Enjoy some quiet time with your furry bff this year. Fido really does turn houses into home!
